RI tourism-culture exhibition in Jeddah May 1-2
The Indonesian consulate general in Jeddah, in cooperation with the Indonesian culture and tourism ministry, will organize an Indonesia Tourism and Culture Exhibition 2008 on May 1-2, 2008, at Aziz Mall, Jeddah.
The exhibition would be an excellent opportunity to disseminate cultural and tourism information on Indonesia as the biggest Moslem country in the world, the consulate said in a statement received here Wednesday.
The exhibition was considered an important event in the Visit Indonesia Year (VIY 2008) calendar of events, it said.
On May 3, the exhibition organizers would also host a business-to-business meeting at the Le Meridien Hotel where some 14 Indonesian travel agents would meet Saudi counterparts.
Indonesia is a vast and beautiful country of more than 17,600 islands spread across some 5,000 square km of tropical seas with green views and warm tropical weather year-round and an average temperature of 31 degrees centigrade.
It has a lot of tourist objects of international standards, shopping centers, hotels and fantasy lands for children. As the world`s largest Moslem country, 88 percent of Indonesia`s 234 million population embrace Islam.
International tourists who arrived in Indonesia in 2007 numbered 5.5 million. The number was the biggest within the past ten years and the tourists spent a total of US$ 5.3 billion during their stays in the country.
In 2007, over 45,735 Middle Eastern tourists came to Indonesia and 80 percent of the number were from Saudi Arabia.
